Points are earned by getting through battles without dying, capturing without getting spotted and killing players with rifles. Semi-automatic Rifles, Bolt-Action Rifles and even Anti-Tank Rifles work. While the M2 Carbine and AVS-36 can be used to gain Ribbon XP, the Sturmgewehr 44 cannot.
how to grind recon ribbon[ | ]
There are three main ways of grinding the recon ribbon.
- Killing enemies.
- Capturing objectives without being spotted.
- Staying alive for the duration of the battle.
1st way:[ | ]
Killing enemies is the best way to grind out the recon ribbon. Assuming that the enemy had full health, wounding or killing with bodyshots from a distance under 199m will not yield XP. Wounding or killing with bodyshots from a distance over 200m will yield 50XP.
Headshots will always yield XP, and often more than bodyshots. Again assuming that the player had full health. Headshots at 199m or less will yield around 104XP and headshots at 200m or more will yield around 154XP.
Killing from 200m+ will not give any extra XP, so the amount of XP from a kill is the same from 200m and 1000m, that means that you can stay closer to the enemy without losing potential XP.
Killing bots will never give XP, unless in First Encounter - but this gamemode is only available for Infantry.
2nd way:[ | ]
Capturing objectives without being spotted. This means that you have to capture the point and not just neutralize it. In this context, getting spotted means: Getting a red arrow above you.
This means that enemies can be on the point at the same time as you. You just have to kill them before they have the time to mark you.
3rd way:[ | ]
Staying alive for the duration of the battle. This is the most time consuming and worst way of grinding the ribbon.
Requirements:
- Kill at least 1 player, bots will not count.
- Battle has to last at least 10 minutes.
- You have to stay alive for at least 10 minutes.
- You must stay active, so you cannot AFK.
- Do not die, Do not redeploy, Do not quit
The reward is always 224XP. Killing more players or staying alive for a larger duration will not affect the amount of XP gained.
Tips and tricks[ | ]
As the squad leader, you can press or hold Q to rally a location, this can be useful for getting precise locations of places.
When scoped, press the space bar for automatic range adjustion.
Play Skirmish-type Capture & Hold battles, the maps being Hill 60, Khutor, Sawmill and Village Skirmish. In this way you will encounter more players than bots when compared to large and long (time wise) assault maps. The skirmish battles are also a lot smaller and have quicker battles time-wise. Playing War is also a good option to take advantage of the Ribbon XP bonus, but is only advisable for skilled players.
Use Semi-Automatic Rifles with the pointer-quickfire badge to easily hit hipfire headshots. This will work best for Infantry.
If you know that you are going to grind the ribbon for a longer time, remember to activate a booster. It will give 150% more XP for four hours and it will help a lot in the long run to keep grinding times low.
