{{Gun |id=44 |History=The '''Gewehr 43''' (or G43) is a semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Walther GmbH from 1943 to 1945, meant to replace the inefficient, jam-prone Gewehr 41. When German soldiers invaded the Soviet Union, they were met with stiff resistance by Soviet soldiers wielding Tokarev SVT38 and SVT40 semi-automatic battle rifles. Walther GmbH, the manufacturer of G41 semi-automatic rifles, reverse-engineered the simple gas-operated mechanism of the Tokarev rifles and incorporated their superior design into the G43. The design and construction materials of the weapon were also streamlined, making mass production faster and cheaper. Production of the Gewehr 43 began in Oct 1943, and in 1944, the design was renamed Karabiner 43 (or K43). Between 1943 and 1945, approximately 403,000 were built; 53,435 of the most accurate selections were configured as sniper rifles, sporting factory-fitted ZF43 4x magnification optics. It's accurate, deals good damage with a decent rate of fire but lacks in stability, range and it's sights can't be adjusted.
