Description[edit source]

The design of this excellent light machine gun shares many similarities with the German FG-42. It is designed to replace the heavy M1918 and is well liked by U.S. troops.

History

The Johnson M1941 LMG was designed by a Boston Lawyer and a Captain in the USMC reserves during the late 1930s. During WW2, the Allied Special Forces asked for a LMG that was lighter, more maneuverable, while having the same accuracy and firepower of a BAR. Thus, small quantities of the Johnson LMG were given to Special Forces soldiers operating behind Axis lines. The First Special Service Force also known as the Devil's Brigade received the weapon and it became an overwhelming favorite.
