Description
“ | The Mosin Nagant 1891-30 is the standard bolt-action rifle issued to the Red Army. It uses a clip of 5 7.62x54mmR rounds. It has a slightly more complex design than the German K98 but has very similar performance. | ” |

History
The Mosin–Nagant is a bolt-action, internal magazine single/clip-fed, military battle-rifle, developed by the Imperial Russian Army in 1882–1891, and used by the armed forces of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and various other nations. It is one of the most mass-produced military bolt action rifles in history with over 37 million units produced since its inception in 1891, and much like the AK-47 it has shown up in various conflicts around the world, despite its age and obsolescence.
Gameplay
The Mosin-Nagant is very accurate, able to effectively engage the enemy at very long ranges. This rifle can be modified to kill in one shot, which makes it an extremely potent weapon on the field. However, due to its slow rate of fire, the Mosin-Nagant is ill-suited for close quarter combat. It's advised to pair this rifle with a sidearm, be it a pistol, submachine gun, or a semi-automatic rifle.
Unmodified, the Mosin Nagant requires two torso shots to kill within 200 meters. As such, ensure your target is not in a position to seek cover when you open fire.
A smart idea is to fire and relocate often, as real snipers used to and still do to this day.
Pros
- Powerful: The Mosin could easily be modified for an instant kill, but out of the box it still packs a big punch.
- Infantryman Sniper: Allows you to be a mid-range supporting sniper and anti-sniper. Stick with your squad and pick off the enemies when they are not looking.
- Accuracy: Where you aim is where you will hit. Not to mention the “no-scope-ability” factor. The sights are well positioned and optimal for leading moving targets.
Cons
- Slow: Aim for the head, you might not get a second shot.
- Close Combat: Although no-scoping is an option, to rely on this might be a mistake. A pistol or knife is suggested.
- Iron Sight: The iron sight that on the rifle is quite thick, making it more difficult to see the target than the American Springfield.
